The Spirit of God confronts the spirit of evil

Acts 19:13-20

This is an exciting piece of scripture.  I highly recommend you read it.  The Spirit of God takes on the spirit of evil.  In the Western world we dabble in the occult with horoscopes, ouija, psychic fairs, and visits to the medium but it seems that we really don't believe in the power of the enemy nor the power of God.  This is not true in parts of Africa where the witch doctor is consulted on a regular basis.  No matter, this story reminds  us that there is a power struggle going on between good and evil and we need the power of God on our side.  It's interesting here that the evil spirits identified Jesus and Paul.   Even the evil spirit world knows Jesus!  We need to live such a life that even the evil spirits know of us because of the impact the Kingdom of God is having in this world.  It's also interesting to note that once folks heard of this incident they cleaned up their lives.  It's not enough to just know Jesus; we need to obey Him as well and this means cleaning up our lives with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Lord Jesus, please help us to make such an impact in this world for You that even the evil spirits know who we are.  I pray for the Christian that goes to psychic fairs to proclaim Your truths.  Please watch over him and protect him from the evil one.  Lord Jesus, please identify in our lives what needs to go and what needs to come to make our bodies living temples of the Holy Spirit and give us the strength and courage to make these changes.  Lord Jesus, we want You to reign on this earth.  With the war in the Ukraine I'm reminded that this world needs You.  Please generate many Paul conversion moments over there; especially among high ranking officials.  Amen

The Holy Spirit comes

  Act 2:1-4 Jesus said He had to leave in order for the Holy Spirit to come.  I have a theory that while Jesus walked the earth He had the Holy Spirit all to Himself but on the day of Pentecost (as described here) the Spirit was released on all the disciples that were gathered together.  It was a spectacular event with wind and what looked to be tongues of fire and what made it unique is they could speak in other languages. Lord Jesus, please help us to communicate with those that speak other languages.  I know You separated us by our languages because we were trying to be like god but at Pentecost You united us again.  Help us to remember You are God and we are just Your servants so You can use us to increase Your Kingdom.  Amen
