A religious response to truth

 Acts 4:1-4

Lay people are teaching; and they're teaching something that doesn't sit well with the church leaders; Jesus rose from the dead!  So what does the leadership do?  They arrest Peter and John!  Yet, many came to know Jesus that day.  This is the challenge of applied faith.  What are we willing to do to stay on the course of truth? What are we willing to do to see others comes to know Christ?

Lord Jesus, please guide us and direct us in the ways of Your truth and then give us the courage to obey the next little thing You tell us to do.

The Holy Spirit comes

  Act 2:1-4 Jesus said He had to leave in order for the Holy Spirit to come.  I have a theory that while Jesus walked the earth He had the Holy Spirit all to Himself but on the day of Pentecost (as described here) the Spirit was released on all the disciples that were gathered together.  It was a spectacular event with wind and what looked to be tongues of fire and what made it unique is they could speak in other languages. Lord Jesus, please help us to communicate with those that speak other languages.  I know You separated us by our languages because we were trying to be like god but at Pentecost You united us again.  Help us to remember You are God and we are just Your servants so You can use us to increase Your Kingdom.  Amen
